Election Day is November 4
Vote for candidates of your choice for the state, federal and local offices on the ballot this year.
We have posted the 2014 West Hartford Voters' Guide which contains a sample ballot.
Also on the ballot is a proposal for a Constitutional Amendment to the CT Constitution; it is discussed below.
The League Supports a Yes Vote on the Constitutional Amendment
Did you know that in November voters in Connecticut will vote on this ballot question to amend the state constitution?
Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to remove restrictions concerning absentee ballots and to permit a person to vote without appearing at a polling place on the day of an election?
As discussed in the downloadable flyer, the League of Women Voters of Connecticut supports a yes vote, which will enable future decisions about absentee and in-person voting through the process currently used by Connecticut’s General Assembly for other election-related proposals. Currently, the Constitution restricts absentee voting to only those exceptions listed in the Constitution. If the amendment passes, then the discussion of other options can begin.
The League of Women Voters of Greater Hartford would like to show our support for this amendment. One way we will do this is by marching in the Park Road Parade carrying signs supporting the amendment and handing out flyers. Additionally, we are willing to speak to local groups about the amendment. Please contact Sandy Fry A if you know of a group that might be interested in such a presentation. Thanks!
